Today we tried a consumer quality latex spray paint by Krylon called H2O. It specifically mentioned that it can be used on rubber surfaces. To try it out, we sprayed both an old rubber suspension bushing and also a football. After letting the items dry for 2 hours, we found that the latex bond was very weak and easily smeared off upon rubbing. Additionally, the latex based spray seemed to crack off the next morning. We will need to look for alternate solutions.
